Primary Care - Registered Practical Nurse

Registered Practical nurses direct or work within a team of health professionals in providing patient care and preventing illness.

They educate patients on disease and how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

They triage and monitor patients, carry out blood work, immunizations, and perform clinical & clerical duties.

They administer medication and treatments prescribed by nurse practitioners and physicians and help patients rehabilitate from illnesses or injuries.

GBA CHC RPNs are responsible for the infection control policies and procedures at our sites. Instrument cleaning and sterilization are done to provincial standards. RPNs promote Health and Safety, help improve quality and reduce risk and advocate for the patient. You will often hear them say: "Just wash your hands!"
