The Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre (GBACHC) is pleased to announce the upstairs Community Room is now operating as a cooling centre during designated times.

The cooling centre is opened when Lambton Public Health (LPH) notifies the GBACHC of a heat warning. During heat warnings, the cooling centre is open from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Cooling centres are areas meant to provide shelter from extreme heat. The GBACHC’s cooling centre will be located in the air-conditioned upstairs Community Room at the Grand Bend site – water and restrooms will be available. Anyone who requires a break from the heat is welcome to stay as long as needed while the cooling centre is operating. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 12.

The GBACHC cooling centre currently has a maximum 10-person occupancy due to public health guidelines. All visitors must pass a COVID-19 screening at the GBACHC main entrance to be admitted into the cooling centre.

To know if LPH has issued a heat warning, keep an eye on their websites press releases.
