Persistent pain is life changing, chronic, painful, sad, profound, isolating and challenging! BUT it doesn't have to be. Having participated in the Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre's Persistent Pain Management Program, I learned various holistic (whole body) approached to cope with persistent pain. I very much gained both a sense of control, but I was also able to learn to view my persistent pain in a different way. Education is powerful and receiving the knowledge of why my body was responding in the way it was has made a huge impact on my day-to-day pain management. I encourage you - if you are experiencing persistent pain, invest in yourself, have an open mind and take this course. No, it doesn't cure you, but it is an integral tool to have in arsenal! - Sherry Seelen

A great place to share the challenges of living with Parkinson's disease, and to learn strategies to cope.

The aim of this group is to enhance knowledge on specific topics related to Parkinson’s disease and to provide opportunities to talk with each other, ask questions to occasional guest speakers, and share resources. The group’s goal is to create a network in the community where people affected by Parkinson’s Disease feel supported and encouraged. The group aims to facilitate personal growth, empowerment, and increased knowledge and understanding of the disease.

The Parkinson’s support group was created in response to an identified need in the community for individuals and their caregivers who live with Parkinson’s Disease. The group works in partnership with the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario.

For more information, contact the GBACHC occupational therapist at 519-238-2362 x241. The group runs virtually on the last Monday of every month, with some exceptions.
