Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists at GBACHC are dedicated to improving and maintaining physical mobility and independence, managing and reducing pain, and improving overall fitness, health and well-being.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists at GBACHC work with individuals to assist them in improving, sustaining or restoring their highest possible level of independence in their desired daily activities. Self-referrals accepted – click the Programs and Services Form button below.
Kinesiologist
The Kinesiologist works with the Physiotherapist to develop individual exercise programs for patients. The Kinesiologist also runs exercise classes designed for patients in wheelchairs, using walking aids such as walkers and canes, on oxygen and in need of some individual coaching. The Kinesiologist is an important member of the Better Breathing Team.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehabilitation program assists patients/clients in developing a heart-healthy lifestyle. The program is offered to those with a diagnosed heart or valve condition and to those recovering from a cardiac event or surgery. Patients/clients who are at high risk of developing heart disease also qualify for the program.
The cardiac rehabilitation team consists of a nurse practitioner, registered kinesiologist, social worker and a registered dietician. Each practitioner provides an individualized plan to maximize overall quality of life and to minimize cardiac risk factors and symptoms by providing education for self-management.
There is no cost to patients/clients to participate in the program. Referrals must be made by a physician

Referrals for a physiotherapist and/or an occupational therapist can be made through your physician, nurse practitioner, other health care provider, caregiver, or yourself.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP
The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group at GBACHC runs in partnership with the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario. Facilitated by an occupational therapist, this group welcomes people living with Parkinson’s disease, their partners, family members and/or caregivers.
Available last Tuesday of every month from 1:30-3 p.m.
STROKE & BRAIN INJURY CLINIC
Following a stroke or brain injury people often experience changes to how their mind and body work. Continued rehabilitation is often required to help the mind and body recover and adapt!
Our stroke and brain injury rehabilitation team includes an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and kinesiologist. There is also a dietician and social worker who assist with the clinic, as needed. Team members work to meet the client’s personal goals individually and in a group environment.
FALLS PREVENTION SEMINARS
Falls Prevention Seminars aim to assist people in our catchment area gain knowledge and skills to improve balance and reduce fear of falling through exercise. These seminars are facilitated by an occupational therapist a few times a year in different locations throughout the GBACHC catchment area.
