On March 26, the GBACHC is proud to celebrate Social Prescribing Day — a day that highlights a simple idea with big impact: better health starts with more than medicine. It also starts with connection, purpose, belonging, and support in everyday life.
Social prescribing helps connect people to non-clinical supports in the community that can improve their overall well-being. That might mean a fitness program, a peer support group, a food resource, a creative activity, or another community service that helps a person feel more connected and supported. It is about looking at the whole person and asking not just “What do you need?” but also “What matters to you?”
At the GBACHC, we see every day how Social Prescribing can make a real difference. The community connection made through social prescribing helps reduce isolation, strengthen wellbeing, and open the door to supports that help people live healthier, fuller lives. It is one more way we are working to support health and well-being for all. Learn more in this video – Cultivating Connection: Social Prescribing in Ontario.
Today, we celebrate the people, partnerships, and community programs that make this work possible — and the individuals who take that first step toward connection. That is something worth celebrating.
