COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic (CCFCC) Closing

Due to a steady decline in patient volume, the Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre (GBACHC) will be suspending the operation of its COVID Cold and Flu Care Clinic (CCFCC) as of Friday, March 31, 2023.

In May 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and community needs, the GBACHC opened a COVID-19 Assessment Centre (AC). A drive-through component was added in June 2020. The AC expanded its clinical assessments in December 2022 and became known as a CCFCC. To date over 14,000 respiratory-related tests and clinical assessments have been completed.

The GBACHC extends a huge thank you to Oke-Woodsmith for the use of the trailer, Grand Bend Home Hardware for the use of the jackets, and the countless community members and organizations who supported the AC and CCFCC for the past three years.

The AC and CCFCC could not have happened without the amazing, dedicated GBACHC staff who worked tirelessly to provide this essential service. Staff pivoted, pitched in, and flexed their schedules during the rise and fall of the pandemic. Their resilience and flexibility guaranteed seamless transitions and stable operations that the community could count on – thank you so much!

For COVID-19 assessment, testing or antiviral treatment after March 31, 2023, people should contact their family doctor or visit Ontario’s COVID-19 web page (www.ontario.ca/covid19) to find a local pharmacy that offers COVID-19 testing and treatment.

Residents are encouraged to continue taking action to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses by masking in public spaces, remaining up to date with vaccinations, washing hands frequently, and staying home when sick (unless seeking medical care).

If severe COVID-like symptoms develop, including shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of consciousness, or confusion, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
